This summer, I worked on a research project to help optimize and develop a program that could automatically detect Alzheimer's Disease from speech using AI (deep learning). I came up with the research idea on my own, and I developed it throughout my Junior year. I was mentored by Dr. Nicolas Bazan, the Director of LSU's Neuroscience Center of Excellence. This project was highly successful and achieved an accuracy of 99%, much higher than previous studies, which only achieved an accuracy of around 80%. The manuscript has been published in the journal MDPI Brain Sciences.
